Places of Interest - Grottes de Saulges

Dating as far back as 350 million years, the Grottes de Saulges are a fascinating example of prehistoric life. Two underground caves offer a spectacular display of stalagmites and stalactites, up to 35m below ground level. Part of the site is still an on-going archeological excavation, revealing remains of prehistoric man and vestiges of cave paintings.

Situated beside the river, there are lots of places for picnics, walks and rock climbing rock climbing for those who prefer something a little more active. There is also a good restaurant at the site open throughout the summer season.
